while he was carrying Umamah bint Abi al-As ibn al-Rabi'. [Agreed upon] (29). And the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to pray, and when he prostrated, al-Hasan and al-Husayn would jump onto his back. (30)
Prayer in such [a garment] is disliked because of the possibility of the impurity overwhelming it.
Prayer in a woman's garment in which she menstruates is valid if one does not verify that it was struck by impurity, because the default state is purity. Taking precautions against that is better, because it is possible that it was struck by impurity. Abu Dawud (31) narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that she said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did not pray in our hair-garments or our coverings."
The saliva of children is pure, and Abu Hurayra narrated, saying: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) carrying al-Husayn [ibn Ali] (32) on his shoulder while his saliva was dripping on him. (33) [And Abu Bakr carried al-Hasan ibn Ali on his shoulder while his saliva was dripping, and Ali was at his side, and Abu Bakr began to say: 'By my father, resembling the Prophet... not resembling Ali,' and Ali was laughing.] (34)
