Al-Shafi‘i and Abu Thawr said: They are not part of the face nor are they part of the head. Thus, singling them out with new water represents a departure from some (5) of the disagreement, and it is therefore preferable. If one wipes them with the water of the head, it is sufficient, because the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—did so.

Section: Al-Marwudhi said: I saw Abu ‘Abd Allah wipe his head, and I did not see him wipe his neck, so I said to him: [Do you not wipe] (6) your neck? He said: It has not been narrated from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace. I said: Has it not been narrated from Abu Hurayra, who said: It is the place of the yoke (ghull)? He mentioned that Sufyan (9) used to deny it, and Yahya (10) also denied it. We do not know the report of Ibn ‘Abbas, [nor did] (11) the authors of the Sunan narrate it.

Section: Some of our companions mentioned among the sunan of wudu' washing the interior of the eyes, and it is narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that he went blind from frequently putting water into his eyes. The Qadi said: It is only recommended...
