From Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that a man performed ablution but left a spot the size of a fingernail on his foot, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw him and said: "Go back and perform your ablution properly." So he went back and performed ablution (13), then prayed. Recorded by Muslim (14). In another wording: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw a man praying, and on the back of his foot there was a spot the size of a dirham that the water had not reached, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered him to repeat his ablution and prayer. Recorded by Abu Dawud (15) and al-Athram. Al-Athram said: Abu Abdullah mentioned the chain of narration for this hadith. I asked him: Is the chain of narration sound? He said: Yes. And from Abdullah ibn Amr, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw some people performing ablution while their heels were visible/gleaming (16), so he said: "Woe to the heels from the Fire."
