fingers, and that he used to rub his toes with his little finger, performing some rubbing. All of this indicates the obligation of washing, for the wiped [part] does not require complete coverage and rubbing. As for the verse, Ikrima reported from Ibn Abbas that he used to read it as {wa arjulakum} (and your feet [in the accusative case]). He said: It returns to the washing (18). It was narrated from Ali, Ibn Mas'ud, and al-Sha'bi that they used to read it in that manner. Said recorded all of that, and it is the recitation of a group of the reciters, including Ibn Amir (19), so it is linked to the hands in the [act of] washing. As for one who recites it with the genitive case (jar), it is due to proximity, [as they cited] (20):

Al-Tirmidhi said: In the same chapter are narrations from Abdullah ibn Amr, Aisha, Jabir, Abdullah ibn al-Harith ibn Juz' al-Zubaydi, Mu'ayqib, Khalid ibn al-Walid, Shurahbil ibn Hasana, Amr ibn al-As, and Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan.
