Ahmad ibn al-Qasim (1) said: I asked Ahmad about a man (2) who prays more than five prayers with one wudu'. He replied: "There is no harm in this, provided his wudu' has not been nullified! I did not think anyone would dispute this." He also said: "The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him) prayed the five prayers on the day of the Conquest with a single wudu'." Anas narrated: "The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him) used to perform wudu' for every prayer." I asked: "How did you all do it?" He replied: "A single wudu' sufficed one of us as long as he did not nullify it." Narrated by al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud (3). In Muslim (4), from Burayda, who said: "The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him) prayed five prayers on the day of the Conquest with a single wudu' and wiped over his socks. 'Umar said to him: 'I saw you do something you were not accustomed to doing.' He said: 'I did it intentionally.'"
