not tied to wudu', so it is not contingent upon it, just like ghusl for major ritual impurity (janaba). (13) The second narration is that nothing more than istinja' and wudu' is necessary. This was narrated from Ibn Abbas, and it is the opinion of most scholars, and it is the apparent meaning of the words of al-Khiraqi; for Sahl ibn Hunayf narrated, saying: "I used to encounter difficulty and hardship from madhy, and I used to perform ghusl frequently because of it. I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said: 'Wudu' is sufficient for you in that regard.'" Reported by Abu Dawood and al-Tirmidhi (14), who said: A hasan sahih (sound and authentic) hadith. Furthermore, it is a substance issuing that does not necessitate ghusl; therefore, it resembles wady (prostatic fluid). The command to sprinkle [water] and wash the male member and the testicles is interpreted as being for recommendation (mustahabb), as the language allows for it. His statement, "Wudu' is sufficient for you in that regard," is explicit regarding the sufficiency of wudu', thus it is obligatory to prioritize it.

As for wady, it is a white, thick fluid that issues after urination as a turbid substance. There is nothing regarding it or the rest of the discharges except wudu'. Al-Athram reported with his chain of transmission from Ibn Abbas, who said: "Maniy (semen), wady, and madhy: as for maniy, ghusl is required for it; as for madhy and wady, performing complete purification (wudu') is required for them."

43 - Issue; He said: (And the exit of urine and excrement from other than their natural passages)

There is no difference of opinion that the wudu' is nullified by the exit of excrement and urine from both passages or from other than them, and it makes no difference whether they are little or much, whether the two passages are blocked or open from above the stomach or below it. The companions of al-Shafi'i said: If the outlet is blocked and another is opened below the stomach, wudu' is required for what exits from it, by a single statement (qawl wahid). If it is opened above the stomach, there are two opinions: first, it nullifies (1) wudu'. Second, it does not nullify it. If the natural passage remains, the well-known opinion is that wudu' is not nullified by what exits from elsewhere, and they based this upon their principle that what exits from other than the two passages (2) does not nullify it. As for us, we rely on the generality of His, the Almighty's, statement: {Or one of you comes...}
