Sirin, and Abu al-'Aliyah. The second narration is that there is no wudu' for it. This has been narrated from 'Ali, 'Ammar, Ibn Mas'ud, Hudhayfah (3), 'Imran ibn Husayn (4), and Abu al-Darda' (5), and it is the view of Rabi'ah, al-Thawri, Ibn al-Mundhir, and the People of Opinion (Ashab al-Ra'y). This is because Qays ibn Talq narrated from his father, who said: We came to the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and a man came looking like a Bedouin and said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is your view on a man touching his penis after he has performed wudu'?" He said: "Is it not but a part of you, or a piece of flesh from you?" Reported by Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i, al-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah (6), and because it is a limb of his body, so it is like the rest of his body. The basis for the first narration is what Busrah bint Safwan narrated, that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever touches his penis, let him perform wudu'" (7). Similar reports are narrated from Jabir, and from Umm Habibah and Abu Ayyub, who both said: We heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying: "Whoever touches his private part, let him perform wudu'." (3) Abu 'Abd Allah Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (Husayl) ibn Jabir al-'Absi, the Companion. He was one of the prominent Muhajirun.
