Section: Vomitus is like blood; that which is profuse of it invalidates wudu'. Al-Khallal said: The settled opinion among the companions of Abu Abd Allah, according to him, is that if it is profuse, one must repeat the wudu'. It has been narrated from him that wudu' is required if it fills the mouth. It is also said regarding it that if it is less than half the mouth, one does not perform wudu'. The first is the [official] school position. The ruling regarding worms exiting the body is the same: if it is a large amount, it invalidates wudu', but if it is a small amount, it does not. The large amount is that which is considered profuse by the person [themselves].

Section: As for eructation (belching), there is no wudu' required for it; we know of no disagreement regarding this. Muhanna said: I asked Abu Abd Allah about a man from whose mouth wind emerges like profuse eructation. He replied: "There is no wudu' upon him." Similarly, there is no wudu' for phlegm, regardless of whether it is from the head or the chest, for it is pure, resembling saliva.

The summary of this is that eating camel meat invalidates wudu' in every case, whether raw or cooked, and whether the eater is knowledgeable [of the ruling] or ignorant. This was the view of Jabir ibn Samurah, Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Abu Khaythamah, Yahya ibn Yahya, and Ibn al-Mundhir, [and it is one of the two opinions of al-Shafi'i]. Al-Khattabi said: The general body of the hadith scholars (ashab al-hadith) followed this. Malik, al-Shafi'i, and the jurists (ashab al-ra'y) said: It does not invalidate wudu' under any circumstances, because it is reported from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that he said: "Wudu' is from what exits, not from what enters." And it is narrated from
