while it remains, like menstruation. However, we have in our favor what was narrated that Umar asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): "May one of us sleep while in a state of janabah?" He said: "Yes, if he performs wudu'." Agreed upon (28). From Abu Sa'id, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "If one of you approaches his spouse and then wishes to return, he should perform wudu'." Narrated by Muslim (29). From Aisha, that the Prophet (peace be upon him), when he wished to eat or sleep, would perform wudu'. Meaning, while in a state of janabah. Narrated by Abu Dawud (30). As for the hadith of Aisha: "He would sleep while in a state of janabah and not touch water," it was narrated by Abu Ishaq from Al-Aswad from Aisha, while many others narrated from Al-Aswad from Aisha that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to perform wudu' before he slept. Narrated by Shu'bah and Al-Thawri, and they consider it an error on the part of Abu Ishaq (31). Ahmad said: Abu Ishaq narrated a hadith from Al-Aswad in which he differed from everyone else, for no one else said from Al-Aswad what he said. If only he had attributed it to someone other than Al-Aswad! The other hadith does not contain the fact that he did not perform wudu' when he wanted to return, and these ahadith are to be interpreted
