and al-wajs, which is a soft sound. He should not speak about what took place between him and his wife, due to what was narrated from (68) al-Hasan, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat between the men and the women, then he turned to the men and said: "Perhaps one of you speaks about what he does with his wife when he is in private?" Then he turned to the women and said: "Perhaps one of you speaks to the women about what her husband does with her?" He said: A woman replied: Indeed, they do that, and we also do it. He said: "Do not do that, for the likeness of that is the likeness of a devil who met a female devil and had intercourse with her while people were watching" (70). Abu Dawud (71) narrated from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) something similar in meaning. He should not face the Qiblah during intercourse, because 'Amr ibn Hazm and 'Ata' disliked that. It is disliked to speak excessively during intercourse, due to what Qabisah ibn Dhu'ayb narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not speak excessively when (72) having intercourse with women; for from that comes muteness and stammering" (73). Also, because speaking is disliked during (74) urination, and intercourse is similar to it, and more deserving (75) of that restriction. It is recommended that he fondle his wife before intercourse so that her desire is aroused, and she may attain from the pleasure of intercourse the same as he attains. It has been narrated from 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that he said: "Do not have intercourse with her unless the same amount of desire has come to her as has come to you, so that you do not precede her in finishing." I asked: And is that up to me? He said: "Yes, you kiss her, caress her, and touch her (77), and when..."
