and Abu Hanifah, and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan. In the book of Amr ibn Hazm, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "For the tooth, five [camels] are due." Narrated by al-Nasa'i. And from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who said: "For the teeth, five [camels] each." Narrated by Abu Dawud. As for the molars and the canines, the majority of the scholars hold that they are like the incisors; among them are Urwah, Tawus, Qatadah, al-Zuhri, Malik, al-Thawri, al-Shafi'i, Ishaq, Abu Hanifah, and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan. This has been narrated from Ibn Abbas and Mu'awiyah. It was narrated from Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that he adjudicated one camel for each molar. And from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, that he said: If it were up to me, I would assign two camels for each molar, making the total blood money equal. Malik narrated this in his "al-Muwatta". And a similar report exists from Ata'. It has been narrated from Ahmad in one version that the full blood money is due for all teeth and molars. Thus, it is necessary to interpret this version as being similar to the opinion of Sa'id, due to the consensus that for every tooth there are five camels, and the arrival of the hadith concerning it. So, there would be sixty camels for the teeth, because there are twelve teeth: four central incisors, four lateral incisors, and four canines, each having five [camels due]; and there are twenty molars, ten on each side, five above and five below, so there would be forty camels for them, two camels for each molar, and thus the blood money is completed. The argument of those who said this is that it is a multi-part entity.
