Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudama - Edited by Al-Turki
Volume 2 · Page 193161 - Issue: He said: (And the first things to reach the ground should be his knees, then his hands, then his forehead and nose)

Translation · EN

He said: There are authentic (sahih) hadiths regarding it from Ibn Umar and Abu Humayd. The correct view is the former, because Ibn Umar said: "He does not do that in prostration," in his authentic hadith. When Abu Humayd described the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he did not mention raising the hands during prostration. The general hadiths are interpreted in light of the detailed hadiths which we have narrated, so there remains no disagreement among them.

161- Issue: He said: "And the first thing of him to touch the ground shall be his knees, then his hands, then his forehead and his nose."

This is the recommended (mustahabb) practice in the well-known view of the Madhhab. This has been narrated from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and it was the view held by Muslim ibn Yasar, al-Nakha'i, Abu Hanifah, al-Thawri, and al-Shafi'i. There is another narration from Ahmad that he places his hands before his knees, which was the position of Malik, due to what was narrated from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you prostrates, let him place his hands before his knees and not kneel like the kneeling of a camel." Narrated by al-Nasa'i. Our argument is what was narrated by Wa'il ibn Hujr, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he prostrated, he placed his knees before his hands, and when he rose, he raised his hands before his knees. Recorded by Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i,
