Umar ibn Abi (4) Salamah: That he saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) praying in a single garment, in the house of Umm Salamah, having cast its two ends over his shoulders. Agreed upon (5). And from Jabir that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "If the garment is wide, then wrap yourself in it, and if it is narrow, [then fasten it around your waist] (6)." Narrated by al-Bukhari and others (7). And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was asked about praying in a single garment? The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Do you all have two garments?" Narrated by Muslim and Malik in his "Al-Muwatta" (8), [and Jabir prayed in a qamis (shirt) without a rida' (outer cloak) upon him, and when he finished, he said] (9): I (10) saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) praying in a qamis.
