in Hajj there are two prostrations: Umar, Ali, Abdullah ibn Umar, Abu al-Darda', Abu Musa, Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, Abu al-'Aliyah, and Zirr (2). Ibn Abbas said: The Surah (3) of Hajj has been distinguished by two prostrations. Al-Hasan, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, Jabir ibn Zayd, al-Nakha'i, Malik, and Abu Hanifah said: The latter one is not a prostration (4); because it combined both bowing (ruku') and prostration (sujud) within it. For the Almighty said: {O you who have believed, bow and prostrate} (5). Thus, it was not a [specific] prostration, like the statement of the Almighty: {O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow} (6). Our evidence is the hadith of Amr ibn al-'As, which we have [already] (7) mentioned. And from Uqbah ibn Amir, who said: I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Are there two prostrations in Surah (8) al-Hajj? He replied: "Yes, and whoever does not perform them should not recite them." Recorded by Abu Dawud and al-Athram (9). Also because it (10) is the view of those we named among the Companions, [and no opponent was known to them] (11) [in their era] (12), so it is (13) considered a consensus. Abu Ishaq said: I have known people for seventy years prostrating
