by the intense wind on a cold, dark night; [because it was narrated] from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would have it called out on [a cold or rainy night while traveling]: "Pray in your dwellings." [Muttafaq 'alayh. And it was narrated by Ibn Majah.] [And he did not say, "while traveling," with an authentic chain of narration in both of them combined.] One is also excused if they intend to travel and fear missing their traveling companions; [because there is harm upon him. Also excused for both of these (Jumu'ah and congregational prayer) is one who fears being overcome by drowsiness such that he misses both; so he may pray alone and depart; because the man who prayed with Mu'adh departed from him, separated from the congregation, and prayed alone due to Mu'adh's prolongation and the fear of drowsiness and hardship, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not rebuke him for that when he informed him of it. One is also excused for missing the congregation if one fears that the Imam will prolong the prayer excessively; due to this report, for if it is permissible to leave the congregation after having entered it, then refraining from going out to it is more appropriate.] The second category is fear for one's wealth; because of what we have mentioned regarding the ruler, thieves, and their likes, or if one fears that their house will be robbed
