if it were not for the fact that the tashahhud was omitted due to forgetfulness, he would have returned to it; and were it not that it is an obligation, he would not have performed prostration to make up for it (9). [Other than the tashahhud, the obligations are analogous to it and likened to it] (10). It is not impossible for an act of worship to have obligations (11) which one is given the choice of (12) if one omits them, and pillars [without which the act of worship is not valid, such as in the obligations and pillars of Hajj] (13).
Section (14): Some of our companions added to [these obligations] (15) the intention of exiting the prayer [during the salutation] (16), and the second taslimah (salutation). We have [mentioned that they are not obligatory] (17). This is the choice of al-Khiraqi, as he did not mention them in the count of the obligations. ["Rabbana wa laka al-hamd" is specific to the follower (ma'mum) and the individual performer (munfarid), and there is another narration regarding the individual performer that it is not obligatory upon him] (18). The phrase: (19) "Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah" is specific, [with its omission for the follower] (20).

أن التَّشَهُّدَ سَقَطَ بالسَّهْوِ لَرَجَعَ إليه، ولَوْلَا أنه وَاجِبٌ لما سَجَدَ لِجَبْرِه (٩) [وغيرُ التَّشَهُّدِ من الوَاجِبَاتِ مَقِيسٌ عليه، ومُشَبَّهٌ به] (١٠)، ولا يَمْتَنِعُ أن يَكُونَ لِلْعِبَادَةِ وَاجِباتٌ (١١) يَتَخَيَّرُ إذا تَرَكَها (١٢)، وأرْكانٌ [لا تَصِحُّ العِبَادَةُ بِدُونِها، كالحَجِّ في واجِبَاتِهِ وأرْكَانِهِ] (١٣).
فصل (١٤): وضَمَّ بعضُ (١٤) أصْحابِنَا إلى [هذه الواجباتِ] (١٥) نِيَّةَ الخُرُوجِ من الصَّلَاةِ [في سَلامِه] (١٦)، والتَّسْلِيمَةَ الثَّانِيةَ، وقد [ذكرْنا أنَّهما غيرُ واجِبَيْن] (١٧). وهو اخْتِيَارُ الخِرَقِىِّ؛ لِكَوْنِه لم يَذْكُرْهُما في عَدَدِ الوَاجِبَاتِ. [ويَخْتَصُّ "رَبَّنَا ولَكَ الحَمْدُ" بالمَأْمُومِ والمُنْفَرِدِ، وفى المُنْفَرِد رِوَايَةٌ أُخْرَى، أنَّه لا يَجِبُ عليه] (١٨)، ويَخْتَصُّ قولُ: (١٩) "سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ"، [بسُقُوطِه عن المأْمومِ] (٢٠).
