it between his feet would have been better." It was narrated by al-Nasa'i (44), and his wording is: "He said: He erred against the Sunnah, and if he had alternated between them, it would have been more pleasing to me." Al-Athram said: I saw Abu Abd Allah spread his feet apart, and I saw him alternate between them. This was also narrated (45) from Amr (46) ibn Maymun and al-Hasan. [And it is not recommended to do this frequently, because of what was narrated from] (47) Ata', who said: I like that the movement in it be minimal, and that one stands balanced on his feet, unless one is an elderly person who cannot manage that. As for voluntary prayer, it becomes long for a person, so it is inevitable to lean on this one once and on that one once (48).

He said: "It is a snatching that Satan snatches from the servant's prayer." From the authentic reports, (50) [it was narrated by Sa'id ibn Mansur. And in the "Musnad",] (51) from Abu Dharr, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah continues to be turned towards the servant while he is in his prayer, as long as he does not turn away; if he turns away, He turns away from him." Both were narrated by Abu Dawud (52).
