perform prayer, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray in sheep folds. This is agreed upon (17). He said: "Pray in sheep folds." This is agreed upon (18). This is a consensus, as Ibn al-Mundhir mentioned. Abu Musa prayed in a place where there was sheep dung. It was said to him: "If you had moved forward to here?" He replied: "This and that are the same." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companions did not have mats or prayer rugs upon which to pray; they only prayed on the earth, and sheep folds are never free from their dung and urine. This indicates that they were in direct contact with them during their prayers. Furthermore, it is a normal discharge from an animal whose meat is eaten, so it is pure, like milk and bird droppings according to those who accept that. Moreover, if it were impure, the grains trampled by cattle would become impure, as they are not safe from their urine, thus some of it would become impure, and since the impure would mix with the pure, the ruling for the entire amount would be that of the impure.

Section: As for what emerges from places other than the two passages, there are four categories of animals in this regard. The first is the human being, from whom there are two types of discharges: the pure, which is his saliva, tears, sweat, mucus, and phlegm.
