and its specificity. Furthermore, the isnad (chain of narration) of the hadith of al-Fadl ibn Abbas contains Muqatil. Moreover, it is possible that the dog was neither black nor solid-colored, and it is possible that they were far away. Furthermore, all these hadiths concern the woman and the donkey, and they oppose the hadith of Abu Hurayrah and Abu Dharr regarding them, so the black dog remains without an opposing evidence; therefore, it is mandatory to adhere to it due to its establishment and lack of contradiction.

Section: Nothing invalidates the prayer except what we have mentioned, neither dogs nor anything else, because the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) specifically mentioned them. It was said to him: "What is the matter with the black dog compared to the red dog or the yellow dog?" He replied: "The black dog is a devil" (19). Similarly (20), a black dog does not invalidate the prayer if it is not solid-colored (bahim), because he specified the solid-colored one in his mention, and because of his saying (peace be upon him): "Were it not that dogs are a nation among nations, I would have ordered their killing. So kill every solid-colored black one among them, for it is a devil" (21). Thus, he clarified that the devil is the solid-colored black one. Tha'lab said: "Al-bahim is any color that is not mixed with another color; thus it is bahim." So whenever there is another color in it, it is not bahim. If there are two spots between its eyes that contrast with its color, it does not depart by this from being bahim, and the rulings of the solid-colored black dog apply to it, [such as the invalidation of prayer, the prohibition of hunting it, and the permissibility of killing it; for it has been narrated in a hadith: "You must kill the solid-colored] (22) black one with two white spots, for it is a devil" (23).
