returned. [This] is agreed upon (47). The people of knowledge are in consensus that whoever travels a journey in which prayer is shortened—whether for Hajj, 'Umrah, or Jihad—has the right to shorten the four-rak'ah prayer, performing it as two rak'ahs.
266 - Issue: He said: "And when the distance of his journey is sixteen farsakhs, or forty-eight miles according to the Hashimi [measurement], he is entitled [to shorten]."
Al-Athram said: Abu 'Abd Allah was asked: "In what [distance] is prayer shortened?" He said: "In four burud."

رَجَعَ. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِنَّ (٤٧). وأجْمَعَ أهْلُ العِلْمِ على أنَّ مَن سَافَرَ سَفَرًا تُقْصَرُ في مثله الصَّلَاةُ في حَجٍّ، أو عُمْرَةٍ، أو جِهَادٍ، أنَّ له أن يَقْصُرَ الرُّبَاعِيَّةَ فيُصَلِّيَها رَكْعَتَيْنِ.
٢٦٦ - مسألة؛ قال: (وَإذَا كَانَتْ مَسَافَةُ سَفَرِهِ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ فَرْسَخًا، أو (١) ثَمَانِيَةً وأرْبَعِينَ مِيلًا بالهاشِميِّ (٢)، فَلَهُ [أنْ يَقْصُرَ] (٣))
قال الأثْرَمُ: قِيلَ لأبي عبدِ اللهِ: في كم تُقْصَرُ الصَّلَاةُ؟ قال: في أربَعَة بُرُدٍ.
