"You are with whom you love." (11) The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not rebuke them for their speech, and had it been forbidden for them, he would have rebuked them. Our argument is what Abu Hurayrah narrated, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you say to your companion 'Listen' on the day of Jumu'ah while the Imam is delivering the khutbah, you have engaged in idle talk." This is agreed upon (12). It is narrated from Ubayy ibn Ka'b that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited [Surat] Taha on the day of Jumu'ah and reminded us of the days of Allah, and Abu al-Darda' or Abu Dharr was nudging me. He said (13): "When was this surah revealed[, for I have not heard it except now? He gestured to him to be silent. When they finished, he said: 'I asked you when this was revealed'] (14) but you did not inform me." Ubayy said: "You have nothing from your prayer today except for what you engaged in as idle talk." He went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), mentioned [the matter] to him, and informed him of what Ubayy had said, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Ubayy has spoken the truth." "إنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ" (١١). ولم يُنْكِرْ عليهم النَّبِىُّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم- كلامَهم، ولو حَرُمَ عليهم لأنْكَرَهُ عليهم. ولَنا، ما رَوَى أبو هُرَيْرَةَ، قال: إنَّ رسولَ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-، قال: "إذا قُلْتَ لِصَاحِبِكَ أَنْصِتْ يَوْمَ الجُمُعَةِ، والإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَدْ لَغَوْتَ". مُتَّفَقٌ عليه (١٢)، وَرُوِىَ عن أُبَىِّ بن كَعْبٍ، أنَّ رَسولَ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم- قَرَأَ يَوْمَ الجُمُعَةِ {تَبَارَكَ} فذكَّرنا بأيَّامِ اللهِ، وأبو الدَّرْدَاءِ أو أبو ذَرٍّ يَغْمِزُنِى. فقال (١٣): متي أُنْزِلَتْ هذه السُّورَةُ [، فإنِّى لم أسْمَعْها إلَّا الآنَ؟ فأشارَ إليه أن اسْكُتْ، فلما انْصَرَفُوا، قال: سَأَلْتُكَ متى أُنْزِلَتْ هذه] (١٤) فلم تُخْبِرْنِى. قال أُبَىٌّ: ليس لك من صلاتِك اليومَ إلَّا ما لَغَوْتَ. فذهبَ إلى رسولِ اللَّه -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-، فذكرَ له وأَخْبَرَه بما قال أُبَىٌّ، فقال رسولُ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-: "صَدَقَ أُبَىٌّ". رَوَاهُ عبدُ اللهِ بن أحمدَ،
