and the dog, and this is prevented by something like the back of a saddle." And from Abu Dharr, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "When one of you stands to pray, he is screened by something like the back of a saddle. If there is nothing like the back of a saddle in front of him, his prayer is invalidated by the donkey, the woman, and the solid black dog." Abd Allah ibn al-Samit said: "O Abu Dharr, what is the distinction of the black dog over the red dog or the yellow dog?" He said: "O son of my brother, I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) just as you have asked me, and he said: "The solid black dog is a devil." Both were recorded by Muslim, Abu Dawud, and others (8). The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to the one who passed in front of him on a donkey: "He has interrupted our prayer" (9). We have already mentioned this hadith. Ibn Abbas and 'Ata' used to say: The prayer is invalidated by the dog and the menstruating woman. Ibn Abbas narrated it from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). It was recorded by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah (10). Abu Dawud said: Shu'bah elevated it (marfu'), while Sa'id, Hisham, and Hammam suspended it (waqf) at Ibn Abbas. 'Urwah, al-Sha'bi, al-Thawri, Malik, al-Shafi'i, and the scholars of opinion (As-hab al-Ra'y) said: Nothing invalidates the prayer, based on what Abu Sa'id narrated, saying: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Nothing invalidates
