gave it to him (25). On the authority of Abu Mas‘ud, from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who said: "When a Muslim spends upon his family, anticipating its reward, it is a charity for him." Agreed upon (26). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Sa‘d: "Your spending upon your family is a charity, and indeed that which your wife eats is a charity." Agreed upon (27).
Section: As for the Prophet (peace be upon him), the apparent [position] is that all charity was prohibited to him, both its obligatory and voluntary forms, because his avoidance of it was among the proofs of his Prophethood and its signs, so he would not have violated that. In the hadith of the Islam (28) of Salman al-Farisi, it is mentioned that the one who informed him about the Prophet (peace be upon him) and described him said: "He eats a gift, but does not eat charity" (29). Abu Hurayrah said: When food was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him), he would ask about it. If it was said: "It is charity," he would say to his companions: "Eat," and he would not eat. And if it was said (30): "It is a gift," he would stretch out his hand and eat with them. [It was] narrated by
