at all, because what he committed to by the vow has not occurred. If the one who made the vow has an excuse that prevents him from observing I'tikaf at the time of so-and-so's arrival, such as imprisonment or illness, he must perform it later and offer an expiation, because the time for the vow has passed. He shall perform the remainder of the day only, according to what was incumbent upon him in the performance, in the supported (mansura) narration. In the other narration, he must perform a full day, based on the requirement of fasting for I'tikaf.
شىءٌ؛ لأنَّ ما الْتَزَمَهُ بِالنَّذْرِ لم يُوجَدْ. فإن كان لِلنَّاذِرِ عُذْرٌ يَمْنَعُه الاعْتِكافَ عندَ قُدُومِ فُلَانٍ من حَبْسٍ، أو مَرَضٍ، قَضَى وكَفَّرَ؛ لِفَوَاتِ النَّذْرِ فى وَقْتِه، ويَقْضِى بَقِيَّةَ اليَوْمِ فقط، على حَسَبِ ما كان يَلْزَمُ فى الأداءِ، فى الرِّوَايَةِ المنصورة، وفى الأُخْرَى، يَقْضِى يَوْمًا كَامِلًا، بِنَاءً على اشْتِراطِ الصومِ فى الاعْتِكافِ.
