Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudama - Edited by Al-Turki
Volume 5 · Page 102563 - Issue: He said: (He says: Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk la sharika laka Labbayk, inna al-hamda wa al-ni'mata laka wa al-mulk, la sharika lak)

Translation · EN

I heard them shouting both of them with a loud cry (9). Abu Hazim said: The companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not reach al-Rawha' (10) until their throats became hoarse from the Talbiyah. Salim said: Ibn Umar would raise his voice with the Talbiyah, and he would not reach al-Rawha' until his voice became raspy (11). One should not exert himself in raising his voice beyond his capacity, so that his voice and his Talbiyah are not cut off.

563 - Issue: He said: (He says: "Labbayka Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayka la sharika laka Labbayk, inna al-hamda wa al-ni'mata laka wa al-mulk, la sharika lak" [I am at Your service, O Allah, I am at Your service. I am at Your service, You have no partner, I am at Your service. Indeed, all praise and grace are Yours, and the dominion; You have no partner].)

This is the Talbiyah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It came in the Two Sahihs (1) from Ibn Umar that the Talbiyah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was: "Labbayka Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayka la sharika laka Labbayk, inna al-hamda wa al-ni'mata laka wa al-mulk, la sharika lak." It was reported by al-Bukhari from Aisha, and by Muslim from Jabir (2). The Talbiyah is derived from "labba bi-al-makan" (to remain in a place), meaning when one stays in it. It is as if he said: I am persistent in obeying You and Your command, not turning away from it, nor fleeing from You.
