in the "Manasik" (Rites), on the authority of 'Aisha, that she said: "A woman in ihram may wear what she wears while she is not in ihram, from her silk (khazz), her silk (qazz), and her jewelry." We have already mentioned the hadith of Ibn 'Umar, that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "And let her wear after that whatever she likes of the colors of garments, of dyed [with safflower], or silk (khazz), or jewelry" (7). Ibn al-Mundhir said: "It is not permissible to forbid it without evidence." The statement of Ahmad and al-Khiraqi regarding the prohibition is interpreted as dislike (karaha) because of the adornment it contains, and its similarity to kohl made of ithmid; there is no expiation (fidya) for it, just as there is no expiation for kohl. As for wearing gloves, there is an expiation for it because she wore what she was forbidden from wearing in ihram, so the expiation became incumbent upon her, like the niqab.

Section: The Qadi said: "It is forbidden for her to bind her hands with a cloth, because it is a covering of her body with something specific to it, resembling gloves, and just as if a man bound something on his body." If she wraps her hands without binding, there is no expiation, because the prohibited thing is the wearing, not the covering of them, like the body of a man.

It was narrated from Sulayman ibn Yasar that he (1) said: "The Sunnah according to them is that a woman does not raise her voice in the ihlal (proclaiming the state of ihram)." Raising the voice was only disliked for her out of fear of fitnah (temptation) through her. For this reason, the Adhan and Iqamah are not Sunnah for her, and what is prescribed for her to alert [others] in prayer is clapping, not the Tasbih.

Section: It is recommended for a woman to dye [her hands] with henna when entering ihram, due to what was narrated from Ibn...
