with the supplication of Ibn Umar. It was narrated from Isma'il, that Ayyub narrated to us from Nafi' from Ibn Umar that he used to go out to al-Safa from the Great Gate, stand upon it, and magnify Allah seven times, saying "Allahu Akbar" three times each time. Then he would say: "There is no god but Allah alone, no partner has He; to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, and He is over all things omnipotent. There is no god but Allah, we worship none but Him, making our religion sincere to Him, even if the disbelievers dislike it." Then he would supplicate, [then say] (4): "O Allah, protect me by Your religion, by Your obedience, and the obedience of Your Messenger. O Allah, keep me away from Your forbidden limits. O Allah, make me one of those who love You, love Your angels, Your prophets, Your messengers, and Your righteous servants. O Allah, make me beloved to You, to Your angels, to Your messengers, and to Your righteous servants. O Allah, facilitate for me the path to ease and keep me away from hardship; forgive me in the Hereafter and the first life; make me among the leaders of the righteous, and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; and forgive my sin on the Day of Judgment. O Allah, You have said Your true word: 'Call upon Me; I will answer you' (5), and indeed You do not break Your promise. O Allah, since You have guided me to Islam, do not strip it away from me, and do not strip me away from it, until You take my soul while I am in a state of Islam. O Allah, do not hasten me toward the torment, and do not delay me for the evil of trials." He said: And he would supplicate a great deal, to the point that he would make us feel bored, even though we were youths. And whenever he came upon the place of running (al-mas'a), he would run and magnify Allah (6). Everything he supplicated with is permissible.

Section: If he does not ascend al-Safa, there is nothing upon him. The Qadi said: However, it is mandatory for him to cover the entire distance between al-Safa and al-Marwah, such that he brings his heels to touch the bottom of al-Safa, then he walks/runs to al-Marwah. If he does not ascend it, he should bring his toes to touch the bottom of al-Marwah. Ascending it
