to its entitled recipients, and it spares the poor the trouble of looting and crowding over it. He shall only give the butcher a portion of it for his wages because (22) its slaughter is his responsibility (23), so his compensation is upon him, not the poor. Furthermore, giving a portion of it as a substitute for butchering is like selling it, and it is not permissible to sell any part of it. If the butcher is poor, and he gives him of it (24) due to his poverty, apart from what he gives him as his wage, it is permissible; because he is a recipient, taking (25) from it due to his poverty, not due to his wage, so it is permitted just as it would be for another person. He shall distribute its skins and its coverings, as mentioned in the report; because he drove it for the sake of Allah with that condition, so he shall not take anything of that which he set aside (26) for the sake of Allah. Some of our companions said: It is not obligatory for him to give its coverings, because he only offered the animal, not what was upon it.

Section: The Sunnah is to slaughter in Mina, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) slaughtered there, and wherever he slaughters within the Haram, it is sufficient; due to the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Every part of Mina is a place of slaughter, and all the passes of Makkah are a place of slaughter and a road." Narrated by Abu Dawud (27).

Section: It is not a condition for the hady to combine both the Hill (non-sacred area) and the Haram, nor is it required to station it at Arafat, but doing so is recommended (mustahabb). This was narrated from Ibn Abbas, and it is the opinion of al-Shafi'i, Abu Thawr, and the people of reason (Ahl al-Ra'y). Ibn Umar did not consider the hady valid unless it had been stationed at Arafat. A similar view is attributed to Sa'id ibn Jubayr. Malik said: I prefer for the Qarin (one performing Hajj Qiran) to drive his hady from the place where he enters Ihram; but if he purchases it from other than that, from what is adjacent to Makkah after stationing it at Arafat, it is permissible. Regarding the hady of the one who had intercourse (during Ihram), he said: If he did not drive it, let him buy it from Makkah, then take it out to the Hill, and drive it to Makkah. Our position is that the purpose of the hady is its slaughter and the benefit of the poor through its meat, and this (28) does not
