Abu Bakr al-Siddiq. Peace be upon you, O Umar al-Faruq. Peace be upon both of you, O companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), his bedfellows, and his viziers; and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. O Allah, reward them on behalf of their Prophet and on behalf of Islam with the best of rewards: {Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home} (28). O Allah, do not make this the last visit to the grave of Your Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and to the sanctuary of Your Mosque, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

Section: It is not recommended to wipe the wall of the Prophet's grave (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), nor to kiss it. Ahmad said: "I do not recognize this." Al-Athram said: "I saw the people of knowledge from the people of Medina not touching the grave of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace); they would stand at a distance and offer the greeting." Abu Abdullah said: "This is how Ibn Umar used to act." He added: "As for the pulpit (minbar), it has been reported." He means what was narrated by Ibrahim ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abd al-Qari (29), that he observed Ibn Umar placing his hand on the seat of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) on the pulpit, then placing it on his face.

Section: It is recommended for whoever returns from Hajj to say what was narrated by al-Bukhari (30) from Abdullah ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), when he returned from a battle, Hajj, or Umrah, would proclaim the takbir (Allahu Akbar) upon every high ground, then say: "There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs the dominion, to Him belongs the praise, and He is over all things capable. We are returning, repenting, worshiping, and to our Lord praising. Allah has fulfilled His promise, granted victory to His servant, and defeated the confederates (al-ahzab) alone."
