experiencing postpartum bleeding. Had it been obligatory, he would have commanded others besides them to perform it. Furthermore, it is for a future event, so it is analogous to the ghusl for Jumu'ah.
Section: If one does not find water, it is not prescribed (sunnah) for him to perform tayammum. Al-Qadi said: He should perform tayammum, because it is a legislated ghusl, so tayammum replaces it, like an obligatory one. Our view is that it is a recommended (sunnah) ghusl, so tayammum is not recommended in its absence, similar to the ghusl for Jumu'ah. What he mentioned is invalidated by the ghusl for Jumu'ah and similar recommended ghusls. The difference between the obligatory and the recommended is that the obligatory is intended to permit prayer, and tayammum takes its place in that regard, whereas the recommended is intended for cleanliness and removing odors, and tayammum does not achieve this; rather, it increases the unkempt state and dustiness. For this reason, they differ in the minor purification (wudu'), so it is not legislated to renew tayammum nor to repeat the wiping with it.
Section: It is recommended to be clean by removing unkemptness, eliminating odors, plucking the armpit hair, trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, and shaving the pubic area, because it is a matter for which ghusl and perfume are recommended (sunnah), so this is also recommended for it, like Jumu'ah. Furthermore, ihram prohibits cutting hair and clipping nails, so it is recommended to perform these before it so that one does not need to do them during his ihram when he would not be able to do so.
Issue 555: He said: (He wears two clean garments).
Meaning an izar (lower garment) and a rida' (upper garment), for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Let one of you enter into ihram in an izar, a rida', and two sandals." Ibn al-Mundhir said: This is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and it is also established that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If he does not find an izar, let him wear trousers, and if he does not find two sandals, let him wear khuffayn (leather socks)." And because the muhrim (person in ihram) is prohibited from wearing tailored garments on any part of his body,
