Sa'id also mentioned in his "Sunan": 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated to us from Rabi'ah, who said: I heard al-Harith ibn Bilal ibn al-Harith saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted Bilal ibn al-Harith the 'Aqiq. When 'Umar ibn al-Khattab took charge, he said: "He did not grant it to you so that you could hoard it, so divide it among the people." 'Alqama ibn Wa'il narrated from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted him land in Hadramawt. Al-Tirmidhi said: This is a hasan sahih hadith. Sa'id said: Sufyan narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted some people from Juhaynah or Muzaynah a piece of land, and they left it idle, so a group came and revived it. The ones whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had granted the land disputed with them before 'Umar ibn al-Khattab. 'Umar said: "If it were a grant from me or from Abu Bakr, I would not revoke it, but it is a grant from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so I shall revoke it." Then 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Whoever has land"—meaning whoever has fenced in land—"and leaves it idle for three years, and then a group comes and cultivates it, they are more entitled to it."
