161 - And ʿAlī ibn Abī Maryam narrated to me, from Zayd ibn al-Ḥubāb, who said: Ḥawshab ibn ʿAqīl narrated to us, saying: I heard Abū ʿImrān al-Jawnī saying: “No servant has been given—after Faith—anything better than patience, except gratitude, for it is the superior of the two and the quickest of them in reward.”
