181 - Al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī al-ʿIjlī narrated to me, ʿAmr ibn Muḥammad al-ʿAnqazī narrated to us, Zāfir ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, from ʿUbayd Allāh, who said: I heard al-Ḥasan narrate from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, who said: A man came to the Prophet (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) and said: “My age has advanced, my body has grown sick, and my wealth has gone.” The Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) said: “There is no good in a body that is not afflicted, nor is there good in wealth that is not diminished. Indeed, when Allah loves a servant, He afflicts him; and when He afflicts him, He grants him patience.”
