5 - Khalaf ibn Hishām narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Muṭarrif Mughīra al-Shāmī narrated to us, from al-ʿArzamī, from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: ⦗23⦘ “When Allah gathers all creation, a caller will call out: ‘Where are the people of patience?’ ” He said: “So a small group of people will stand up and hasten swiftly to Paradise. The angels will meet them and say: ‘We see you hastening swiftly to Paradise, who are you?’ They will say: ‘We are the people of patience.’ They will ask: ‘And what was your patience?’ They will reply: ‘We used to be patient in obedience to Allah, and we used to be patient in refraining from disobedience to Allah.’ It will be said to them: ‘Enter Paradise, how excellent is the reward of those who work!’ ”
