52 - Abū Khaythama narrated to me, Abū ʿĀmir narrated to us, from Shuʿba, from Thābit al-Bunānī, from Anas ibn Mālik, that the Prophet—peace and blessings of God be upon him—passed by a woman who was crying over a grave. The Prophet—peace and blessings of God be upon him—said to her: “Fear God and be patient.” She said: “Go away from me, for you have not been afflicted with my calamity!” It was said to her: “He is the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him.” So something like death seized her, and she came to him and said: “I did not recognize you.” He said: “Patience is only at the first stroke of a calamity.”
