56 - ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us, al-Muḥāribī narrated to us, from Shuʿayb ibn Sulaymān, from Muḥriz ibn ʿAmr, from al-Ḥasan, he said: “Indeed God—praise be to Him, He has no partner—has lifted from this nation error, forgetfulness, what they are coerced into, and what they cannot bear, and He has made lawful for them in state of necessity much of what He prohibited for them, and He gave them five things: He gave them the world as a loan and asked them for it as a loan, so whatever they give Him out of good cheer of their souls, they receive many multiples for it, from ten to seven hundred multiples, up to what no one knows except God, Blessed and Exalted, and that is His statement, Mighty and Majestic: {Who is it that will loan God a goodly loan so He will multiply it for him many times over?} [al-Baqara: 245] And whatever is taken from them unwillingly, and they are patient and seek reward, they have for it blessings, mercy, and the realization of guidance, and that is due to His statement, Sublime and Mighty: {Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we shall return." Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the guided.} [al-Baqara: 157] And the third: if they give thanks, He will increase them, and that is due to His statement, Exalted be His Praise: {If you are grateful, I will surely increase you} [Ibrāhīm: 7] And the fourth: that if one of them were to commit mistakes and sins until reaching Disbelief, then repented, He would turn to him in repentance and grant him His love, and that is due to His statement, Mighty and Majestic: {Indeed, God loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves} [al-Baqara: 222] And the fifth: if it were given to Gabriel and Michael—peace be upon them both—and all the prophets, He would have given them an abundant gift, where He says: {Call upon Me; I will respond to you} [Ghāfir: 60]”
