84 - Isḥāq ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us, Jarīr narrated to us, from Ismāʿīl, from Qays, from Khabbāb, who said: We complained to the Messenger of Allah, Peace and blessings of God be upon him, while he was reclining on a mantle of his in the shade of the Kaʿbah. So we said: “Will you not seek victory for us?” He sat up with his face turning red and said: “Among those who came before you, a man would be taken, a trench would be dug for him in the earth, then the saw would be brought and placed upon his head, yet that would not turn him away from his religion; or he would be combed with iron combs beneath his flesh down to the bone and sinew, yet that would not turn him away from his religion. By God, Allah will surely complete this matter until a rider travels from Ṣanʿāʾ to Ḥaḍramawt fearing none but God and the wolf for his sheep, but you are being hasty.”
