85 - ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Asadī narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Yaḥyā ibn Salamah narrated to us, from his father, from al-Mughīrah ibn ʿAbd Allāh, from Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim, from Khabbāb ibn al-Aratt, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, Peace and blessings of God be upon him, while he was lying down under a tree with his cloak under his head as a pillow, and I said: “Will you not supplicate against these people, whom we fear will turn us away from our religion?” But he turned his face away, until he did that three times, every time I said that to him. Then he sat up on the third time and said: “O people! Fear God and be patient. For by God, a man among the believers before you would have a saw placed upon his head and be sawn in two, yet he would not apostatize from his religion. So fear God and be patient, for indeed God will grant victory and act on your behalf.”
