9 - Muhammad ibn Yahya informed me that he said to Abu 'Abd Allah: Is it narrated from al-Fudayl that he said: "I wish that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, would add to the lifespan of Harun and subtract from my lifespan"? He said: Yes, this is narrated from him. And he added: May Allah have mercy on al-Fudayl; he was afraid that someone worse than him might come.
٩ - أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: يُرْوَى عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «وَدِدْتُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ زَادَ فِي عُمُرِ هَارُونَ وَنَقَصَ مِنْ عُمُرِي» ؟، قَالَ: نَعَمْ. يُرْوَى هَذَا عَنْهُ، وَقَالَ: يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ الْفُضَيْلَ، كَانَ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَجِيءَ أَشَرُّ مِنْهُ
