12 - Abu Nu'aym al-Hamdani informed me in Tarsus, saying: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Amr narrated to us, from Ahmad ibn Hanbal, who said: "I saw the Sunnah as hanging upon 'Uthman, may Allah have mercy on him, and I saw the tribulation (fitna) as hanging upon the Sultan."
١٢ - أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، بِطَرَسُوسَ قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ السُّنَّةَ مُعَلَّقَةً بِعُثْمَانَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ، وَرَأَيْتُ الْفِتْنَةَ مُعَلَّقَةً بِالسُّلْطَانِ»
