153 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan al-Warraq narrated to me, saying: Ibrahim ibn al-Harith narrated to us: It was said to Abu Abd Allah. And al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to me, saying: Muhammad ibn Dawud narrated to us: I asked Abu Abd Allah, and I said: A man is in a land during a time of civil strife (fitna), and a man approaches him in his house at night. He said: "I hope that when the sanctity (hurma) is threatened and someone enters upon him in his dwelling..." It was said to him: "What of the one who uses Uthman as an argument, that he was entered upon?" He said: "That is a virtue (fadila) belonging to Uthman. As for when his house is entered and the sanctities (hurum) are threatened..." It was said: "So he repels him?" He seemed to see no harm in it. And he said: "Ibn Umar drew his sword against a thief, and said: 'Had we left him, he would have killed him.'"
