197 - Abu Bakr al-Marwudhi narrated to us, [who said:] It was read to Abu 'Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal], from Ibn Mahdi, from Sufyan, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Husayn, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Talha, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: "Whoever has his property sought [to be taken] wrongfully and fights [for it] and is killed, then he is a martyr."
198 - Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Ansari narrated to us, [who said:] Mu'ammal narrated to us. This [narration] and what preceded it were excerpted in the marginalia, but there was insufficient space for the complete text. He [the author] said after saying 'Mu'ammal narrated to us': The remainder of the Book of Thieves is on the leaf [attached] to the book, and it includes this hadith, but I did not find it therein; perhaps it has fallen out of it.
