218 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan informed me that Muhammad narrated to them, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] was asked about the interpretation of the Prophet's (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) statement: 'Verily, I see you from behind my back.' He said: 'He used to see from behind him.' It was said: 'Is this not something specific to him?' He replied: 'Yes.'
٢١٨ - وَأَخْبَرَنِي الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ: سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ تَفْسِيرِ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي» ، فَقَالَ: " كَانَ يَرَى مِنْ خَلْفِهِ، قِيلَ: أَفَلَيْسَ هَذَا لَهُ خَاصٌّ؟ قَالَ: بَلَى "
