Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Harun al-Khallal narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hajjaj Abu Bakr al-Marwudhi informed us, saying: I heard Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal]—when the Sunnah, the Jama'ah, and the duty of listening and obeying were mentioned to him—urge [people] toward that and command it.
