270 - Harun ibn al-'Abbas al-Hashimi said: 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal came to me, and I said to him: "This Jahmi Tirmidhi, who rejects the virtue of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is using you as an argument." He replied: "He has lied about me," and he mentioned the hadiths regarding that. I said to 'Abdullah: "Write them down for me," so he wrote them in his own handwriting: Harun ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Layth, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: {It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Praiseworthy Station} [Al-Isra': 79], he said: "He will seat him upon the Throne." I then narrated this to my father, may Allah be pleased with him, and he said: "Muhammad ibn Fudayl used to narrate it, but it was not decreed for me to hear it from him." Harun said: I then said to him: "I have been informed about your father that he wrote it from a man, from Ibn Fudayl." He said: "Yes, they have reported this from him."
