283 - Abu Bakr al-Marrudhi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated to us, saying: I asked Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] about the hadiths which the Jahmiyyah reject regarding the Divine Attributes, the vision [of Allah in the Hereafter], the Isra', and the account of the Throne. Abu Abd Allah authenticated them and said: "The scholars have received them with acceptance; we submit to the reports just as they have come." He said: I said to him: A man objected to some of these reports just as they came, so he said: "He should be shunned." And he said: "What is his objection in this matter? He should submit to the reports just as they came."
٢٨٣ - وَقَدْ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْمَرُّوذِيُّ، رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْأَحَادِيثِ الَّتِي تَرُدُّهَا الْجَهْمِيَّةُ فِي الصِّفَاتِ، وَالرُّؤْيَةِ، وَالْإِسْرَاءِ، وَقِصَّةِ ⦗٢٤٧⦘ الْعَرْشِ، فَصَحَّحَهَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، وَقَالَ: " قَدْ تَلَقَّتْهَا الْعُلَمَاءُ بِالْقَبُولِ، نُسَلِّمُ الْأَخْبَارَ كَمَا جَاءَتْ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: إِنَّ رَجُلًا اعْتَرَضَ فِي بَعْضِ هَذِهِ الْأَخْبَارِ كَمَا جَاءَتْ فَقَالَ: يُجْفَى، وَقَالَ: مَا اعْتِرَاضُهُ فِي هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ، يُسَلِّمُ الْأَخْبَارَ كَمَا جَاءَتْ؟ "
