293 - Abu Bakr narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim al-Asbahani said to me: "A group came to me with a book they claimed this Tirmidhi had sent to me for me to review. I looked into it, and at the beginning of the book, it said: 'My father taught me etiquette that I am unable to bear.' The book contained a vilification of Mujahid—may Allah have mercy on him—and of those who hold the view of the hadith of Mujahid: 'He will seat him upon the Throne.' It stated: 'Whoever says this is a Jahmi.' I returned the book to them." Ibrahim then said: "This hadith is authentic and established. Scholars have narrated it for one hundred and sixty years; no one rejects it except the people of innovation." He criticized those who rejected it and said: "This Tirmidhi, I do not know him, and I have never seen him at all."
٢٩٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قالِ: وَقَالَ لِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ: " جَاءَنِي جَمَاعَةٌ بِكِتَابٍ زَعَمُوا أَنَّهُ بَعَثَ بِهِ إِلَيَّ هَذَا التِّرْمِذِيُّ لِأَنْظُرَ فِيهِ، فَنَظَرْتُ فِيهِ، فَإِذَا فِي أَوَّلِ الْكِتَابِ، لَقَدْ عَلَّمَنِي وَالِدِي مِنَ الْأَدَبِ مَا أَعْجَزُ عَنْ حَمْلِهِ، وَفِي الْكِتَابِ طَعْنٌ عَلَى مُجَاهِدٍ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ وَعَلَى مَنْ قَالَ بِحَدِيثِ مُجَاهِدٍ: يُقْعِدُهُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ، وَقَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ بِهِ فَهُوَ جَهْمِيُّ، فَرَدَدْتُ الْكِتَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ "، وَقَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ صَحِيحٌ ثَبْتٌ، حَدَّثَ بِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ مُنْذُ سِتِّينَ وَمِائَةِ سَنَةٍ، لَا يَرُدُّهُ إِلَّا أَهْلُ الْبِدَعِ، وَطَعَنَ عَلَى مَنْ رَدَّهُ، وَقَالَ: هَذَا التِّرْمِذِيُّ لَا أَعْرِفُهُ، وَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ قَطُّ
