304 - Abu Bakr narrated to us, saying: A letter from 'Ali ibn Sahl reached me in his own handwriting, and in it, he said: Harun ibn Ma'ruf and Khallad ibn Aslam narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Layth, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Praised Station" [Al-Isra: 79]. He said: "He will seat him upon the Throne." This is a merit of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and whoever rejects a merit of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is a disbeliever. Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza said: I said to my father: "If you saw a man insulting Abu Bakr, what would you do to him?" He said: "I would kill him." I said: "What about 'Umar?" He said: "I would kill him." If this is [the judgment] for Abu Bakr and 'Umar, then how [much more severe is the judgment] for someone who rejects the merits of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?
