Abd al-Malik ibn Abd al-Hamid al-Maymuni informed me that he asked Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] about the statement of Salman: "He shall not lead you [in prayer/governance]," was he not intending the Caliphate? He replied: "Yes."
