351 - 'Ali ibn Harb reported to us, saying: Quraysh ibn Anas reported to us, from Salih ibn Abi al-Akhdar, from al-Zuhri, from Suwayd ibn Zayd, who said: I passed by the Mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while Abu Dharr was sitting alone. I seized the opportunity and sat with him. He mentioned 'Uthman and said: "I do not say anything about 'Uthman but good after what I saw from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I used to follow the private moments of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to learn from him. He passed by me, and I followed him until he entered a garden, and I entered with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'O Abu Dharr, what brought you here?' I said: Allah and His Messenger. Then Abu Bakr came, greeted, and sat to the right of the Messenger of Allah. Then 'Umar came, greeted, and sat to the right of Abu Bakr. Then 'Uthman came, greeted, and sat to the right of 'Umar. I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) take seven or nine pebbles in his palm, and they glorified Allah (tasbih) until I heard a sound from them like the buzzing of bees. Then he placed them down, and they fell silent. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took them and placed them in the hand of Abu Bakr, and they glorified Allah until I heard a sound from them like the buzzing of bees. Then he placed them down, and they fell silent. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took them and placed them in the hand of 'Umar, and they glorified Allah until I heard a sound from them like the buzzing of bees. Then he placed them down, and they fell silent. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took them and placed them in the hand of 'Uthman, and they glorified Allah until I heard a sound from them like the buzzing of bees. Then he placed them down, and they fell silent."
